Dedicated to making a lasting difference.

From its earliest beginnings, Silver State Schools Credit Union (SSSCU) has been committed to giving back to help Nevada’s neighbors and neighborhoods thrive. In an effort to exemplify this core value of the Credit Union and facilitate community betterment, philanthropic employees organized the Community Involvement Committee (CIC). This employee-driven committee focuses on improving the community through service and action, and it has grown over time to include representatives from each branch and department. Together, volunteers actively support organizations including the Children's Miracle Network, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Clark County School District Focus Schools.

SSSCU management recognized the positive impacts that the CIC was making and wanted to find a way to empower employees to continue to serve locally and support initiatives that better the lives of Nevada’s youth. To further the philanthropic work of the CIC, the Silver State Schools CU People Over Profit Foundation was created. As the charitable arm of the Credit Union, the Foundation’s primary focus is on elevating education across Nevada in order to prepare students to enter the workforce.

Provide our local community with the tools to build a better future by educating, empowering, and enhancing our community.

To become the best resource for our future generations as they grow into high-functioning adults.

Support educational programs and local nonprofits that primarily work with local students from grades K-12.

  • Financial literacy – The Foundation will use SSSCU events like Mad City Money and Money Moves Mobile to empower students about the importance of financial literacy at a younger age.
  • Educational needs - The Foundation will work with nonprofit(s) to provide our selected schools with school supplies for  educators and students. Provide students with mentorship, tutoring, and life skills.
  • Basic healthcare needs - The Foundation will partner with local nonprofits to provide students our “Focus Schools” with vision and dental healthcare.
  • Food and basic needs - SSSCU employees will participate in food, clothing, and personal hygiene drives for students and their families at our selected “Focus Schools.”
